PST Merge: Apt Solution for Getting All PST Files at One Place

February 24, 2016 by admin Leave a Comment

It is obvious for the employees using Outlook from decades, to possess multiple PST files with them. Since earlier the format of Outlook PST files was ANSI, the user may possess both ANSI and UNICODE PST files. Storing all these PST files in the user machine might not be problematic for the users, but it does give rise to issues when the user may require sharing all the PST files or may require transferring the files to a different machine. Thus, in order to avoid any file from being left behind, consolidating all the files in a single PST is a wise option.

PST Merge software is the solution that fits this very problem and merges Outlook PST files into one. Whether the collection of PST files is of both ANSI and UNICODE PST or only ANSI or UNICODE type PST, the software will support merging of both types of files. The resultant PST file will be of UNICODE type, which can be easily accessed in Outlook 2003 and later versions.

Features In Brief

· Merges multiple PST files and associated items like emails, contacts, etc.

· Offers three merging options- Merge, Join and Merge Contacts.

· Removes duplicate items from getting merged when option is selected.

· Excludes merging of emails residing in the deleted items folder of PST.

· It supports merging both ANSI and UNICODE type PST files altogether.

· No limitation on the number of PST files that can be merged together.

· Merge Outlook contacts exclusively with Merge Contacts option.

Versions Of The Tool

Trial Version: In order to get an idea of the working of PST Merge, it is recommended to download the trial version of the software. The trial version is completely free of cost and gives an overall idea of the working of the tool.

Licensed version: Once satisfied with its working, the user can go for the license version of PST Merge. It can be purchased from the official website at a price of $69 only.

Test Run On PST Merge

For giving a clear idea of the working of PST Merge to our users, we did a test run on the demo version of the software. The software got downloaded within a few minutes and got installed easily. The demo version has some limitations in context to the number of items that can be merged. However, the working of both trial and license version is similar in every aspect. Now let us go over the working steps of the software in detail:

1) Activation Window

Once the software is run, a window named Evaluation Version will appear before you. Since we are going for the demo of the software, we selected the Continue Demo option. In case you want to purchase the software click on Buy. If you have already purchased the License version and want to activate it, then select Activate option.

2) Add PST Files

The next step is to add the PST files that have to be merged. The software offers two options for adding the PST files. The first option Add Files can be chosen in case the user wants to add the PST files one by one. The second option Add Folder is opted if all the PST files reside in the same folder and the user wants to add the entire folder.

clip_image004

3) Three Ways To Merge PST Files

The software offers three options for merging the PST files. They are as follows:

· Join

The Join option combines multiple PST files whilst showing the joined PST files as different folders of the resultant PST. For example if PST1 and PST2 are joined, the output PST file will have 2 folders with the name Personal Folder [1] and Personal Folder [2] in it. The Personal Folder [1] will represent the PST1 and the entire folder structure of the file will be kept intact. In a similar manner, Personal Folder [2] will denote PST2 file.

clip_image006

· Merge

The Merge option will combine the input PST files by merging all the similar folders of the files. For example, if PST1 and PST2 files are merged, the output PST file will have only 1 inbox folder which will store all the mails of inbox folder of PST1 and PST2. The same goes with the other folders as well.

clip_image008

· Merge Contacts

Merge Contacts option as the name suggests is merging the contacts folder of the input PST files. The contacts of all the input PST files will be combined and stored in a single PST.

clip_image010

· Remove Duplicate Items While Merging

Once you have selected the option for combining PST files, the next option you will get is Remove Duplicates. The option is enabled for Merge and Merge Contacts only. It removes the duplicate items like emails, contacts, calendars, etc. and does not include them in the resultant PST file.

clip_image012

· Exclude Mails of Deleted Items Folder

If you don’t want to merge the mails stored in the deleted items folder of the PST files, and then select the Exclude Deleted Items option. This option is only enabled for Join and Merge and not for Merge Contacts option.

clip_image014

PROS

· Three variant options for consolidating PST files.

· Supports both ANSI and UNICODE type PST files.

· Option to exclude deleted mails and duplicate items.

CONS

· No option to merge selective items of the PST file.

· No preview of PST files before merging.

THE VERDICT

PST Merge is a commendable tool that comes from trustworthy sources. Based on its overall working and all the features, we would rate it as 9.7/10. Even though the software does not allow selective merging but it does enable the users to exclude deleted emails and duplicates item from getting merged. It will definitely not burn a hole in your pocket and functions really well.

Email Virus going around

May 16, 2013 by admin Leave a Comment

Not to sure  about how this is being spread  , but  the way its been spreading  it definitely looks like a “email virus” . First my sis   started spamming me ..  unintentionally offcourse because somebody else was doing  it from her email account.

Email virus spreading

I contacted her immediately to know that she had not sent me that email , soon enough  my other sister would  got infected  and she too started sending me spam emails .

virus_email

Now the only way  i see it is , she possibly  got infected from the previous email sent  from my other sis hacked account , because that email went to everyone on her list. Now possibly  people clicked on that link in that email  and  got the virus  and  then  the virus continued to attack that person email list  and email everybody else from  this new list.

How to avoid this  email virus ??

Email virus that sends out emails with links

Questions i got asked from  friends !!

1.I was infected by some kind of virus which started sending out emails like crazy. What puzzles me is why I don’t see any sent messages in my MS Outlook ( this could be hotmail or yahoo mail as well)? How is the virus sending email and not using the email program? And is there a way to block the computer from sending email…at least long enough to search for the right tools to fix such a problem?

2. My yahoo email is sending out links that i didnt send (virus?)

Answer: It is not uncommon for these sophisticated virus’ to include their own smtp email program or just login to send messages from your account without any traces. Other reason could be Your pc could very well be seriously infected and even owned by some bot-net.

The three things you need to do

  • First is how to stop the outgoing traffic
  • Second is how to clean up your system.
  • U need to learn how to keep it from happening again

Do this by : Clean your pc with a antivirus , change your password and keep a anitvirus that also scans emails and keeps your browser safe always active on your pc

iF you want to be even more secure or take more precatutions

Immediately change your email password, security questions, and if you have a secondary email account associated with it change that as well.
There are a number of reasons that can explain how your account got hacked:

  1. Your password was easily guessable
  2. You entered your credentials into a phishing site
  3. The website where you had your account had a security breach
  4. Your hacked account used the same password as a different, breached site
  5. There is spyware on your computer

You can tell if your account has been hacked if:

  1. The recipients of the spam-email includes a bunch of people you know
  2. You try to access your account and the password no longer works
  3. You try to access the “Forgot Password” link and it does not go to the expected email
  4. Your Sent Items folder contains a bunch of spammy emails you’re not aware of sending

Someone’s sending emails from my email address! How do I stop them

Don’t click e-mails with suspicious links even if it came from someone you know.( if in doubt email them via another  sms, email or Facebook etc and confirm if they sent that email before clicking the link)

Update the to and from field in your email if  the email is sent to many people , proceed with caution.

Update your browsers

Update your   Anti virus ( if you don’t  have one get the free  AVG antivirus Or Avira free one

Run a a whole pc  antivirus scan if you have a antivirus

Email Etiquette and email writing tips

December 17, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Often we receive emails from friends  and relatives and wish they paid more attention while sending a message that sounded rude  or then just forwarded randomly to  other people or something  similar that got us a bit annoyed or concerned .

email writing tips and rules

Here is a short list of rules that can be followed so that  you  are seen a s a good email citizen  doing the right thing. Please do add to this if something comes to your mind  in t he comments columns below  and will add it if appropriate.

Email etiquette

1. Take Another Look Before You Send a Message – Email Etiquette Rule
Don’t send anything you don’t want to send.

2. Do Not Default to “Reply All” or overuse Reply to All – Email Etiquette Rule
Only use Reply to All if you really need your message to be seen by each person who received the original message.

3. Clean Up Emails Before Forwarding Them – Email Etiquette Rule
Forwarding emails is a great way of sharing ideas, but make sure the original idea is really meant for all in your list  and if the original email sender
would have wanted his or her message sent to all ?

4. Writing in All Caps is Like Shouting – Email Etiquette Rule
Don’t shout in your emails (and all caps is so difficult to read).

5. Make one last check that the address or addresses in the To: field are those you wish to send your reply to.

6. Always end your emails with “Thank you,” “Sincerely,” “Take it easy,” “Best regards” – or something nice !

Increase your Blog user registrations

December 28, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Makingmoney with your blog is not easy  and a fundamental thing  for making money on your blog is  readers or eyeballs to your blogs. Rss subscriptions , feed readers ,email subscriptions can certainly  portray the value  of your blog and its worth.

Look at any successful blogger and  he is sure to have  a good rss feed subscriber count or email count or then most importantly  a very high user count for his blog.  Many bloggers new to the scene fake the  user counts or then subscribers just to increase thier value of thier blog , but most of the time  these sort of tactics don’t work in the long run.

subscribe by email registrations users

Getting new subscribers like subscriptions on red bull

Recently  by accident  i realized how my  subscriber count to one of my blogs  started getting hit  with user registrations like it was on powerade or  red bull or something. This blog started to  get user registrations via the word press user registration button. All that it took to get my user registrations count from like 3 in a week to atleast  average 5 to 10 in  day regularly past the last 4 weeks now. Now i know that this is not  massive numbers  but considering the  not so massive hits that this blog gets its a very good conversion rate. Besides , what i am trying to focus on here is “ How you can increase your blog subscribers” .  I am sure  if you have a bigger blog  with bigger  number of hits  the ratio will do your blog   some good and come out with a nice registration ratio.

After analyzing the page  i realized it could be only one thing  “the post that i had posted as a featured post on the page”. I have not removed the featured post from the blog for the past 3 weeks due to my user subscriber count increasing. The post is an article on  the worlds fastest  car debuting on the Indian market and the post is in  a Indian stock market / Business blog ( blog not disclosed  due to obvious reasons). The post contained  high resolution photos of the bugatti veyron  and gave a good article on the car  as well as a very brief message to traders in  the market. Well the subscriber count has just been pouring in since then. As the content of the post regarding stock market was minimal  and the photos was the attraction of the post ,i would assume the  registration user count for the blog increased because of these photos  , as nothing else has changed in the blog.  The subscribe to button is placed right next to the first glossy photo ( on the left of it ) for people to subscribe to the blog by email.

This certainly goes to prove  that people can certainly  be attracted to register as a user to a blog  just based on good visuals and nice placement of  pics on the blog targeting the right audience with the right pics.

increase your email subscriber count

Image of the new subscribers  that have been pouring into my email account  since the change in the blog  post.

New subscribers rss feed etc

Now also to keep in mind  that the  users that would frequent this blog would mostly be  stock traders or then people in the finance industry who are either quite well off or then  have some nice spending money and when you have a million dollar pics of the worlds fastest car , they  sure can be tempted  to hit the subscribe button  just to get informed of more nice eye candy like this just in case the blog has more similar stuff being posted soon.

Hope you learned something from this  and have a go at increasing your subscriber count. Would appreciate any feedback from experiences you have had doing this.  Good luck !!
