Important points of google algorithmic change

June 7, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

The paragraph below will  pretty much in short  give you the answers to how you can start focusing on your website  , since it has lost a  bit of google juice  affecting your daily income from ad sense or affiliates.

The new google algorithm whack

This change seems to have primarily impacted very large sites with “item” pages that don’t have many individual links into them, might be several clicks from the home page, and may not have substantial unique and value-added content on them. For instance, ecommerce sites often have this structure. The individual product pages are unlikely to attract external links and the majority of the content may be imported from a manufacturer database. Of course, as with any change that results in a traffic hit for some sites, other sites experience the opposite. Based on Matt’s comment at Google I/O, the pages that are now ranking well for these long tail queries are from “higher quality” sites (or perhaps are “higher quality” pages).

So what can you do for your site  to rank well with new google algorithm whack ?

From what matt cuts from google  has to say

What’s a site owner to do? It can be difficult to create compelling content and attract links to these types of pages. My best suggestion to those who have been hit by this is to isolate a set of queries for which the site now is getting less traffic and check out the search results to see what pages are ranking instead. What qualities do they have that make them seen as valuable? For instance, I have no way of knowing how amazon.com has faired during this update, but they’ve done a fairly good job of making individual item pages with duplicated content from manufacturer’s databases unique and compelling by the addition of content like of user reviews. They have set up a fairly robust internal linking (and anchor text) structure with things like recommended items and lists. And they attract external links with features such as the my favorites widget.

Dennis Gabor – the guy who started 3D rolling

June 5, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Dennis Gabor (original Hungarian name: Gábor Dénes) CBE, FRS, (5 June 1900, Budapest  – 9 February 1979, London) was a British-Hungarian[1]  electrical engineer and inventor, most notable for inventing holography, for which he later received the 1971 Nobel Prize in Physics.

[b. Budapest, June 5, 1900, d. London, February 9, 1979]

Gabor got his first patent at the age of 11 (for a carousel using real tethered airplanes). He studied electrical engineering in Germany, where he later developed the modern-day mercury-vapor lamp

His first holograms using mercury-vapor lamps demonstrated the principle, but were dim and difficult to view. Holograms require a coherent set of waves, not easily available until the advent of the laser in 1960. By 1964 holograms using lasers were producing three-dimensional images and since then many other applications of holograms have been developed.

Dennis Gabor received many honors. In 1956 he was nominated to the Royal Society; he was made an honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Scientists; and in 1971 he received the Nobel Physics Prize for his holographic work. He died in London on February 8, 1979.

Honours

Fellow of the Royal Society, 1956.
Hon. Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 1964.
D.Sc. Univ. of London, 1964, Hon. D.Sc. Univ. of Southampton, 1970, and Technological University Delft, 1971.
Thomas Young Medal of Physical Society London, 1967.
Cristoforo Colombo Prize of Int. Inst. Communications, Genoa, 1967.
Albert Michelson Medal of The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, 1968. Rumford Medal of the Royal Society, 1968.
Medal of Honor of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers,1970. Prix Holweck of the French Physical Society, 1971. Commander of the Order of the British Empire, 1970.
Married since 1936 to Marjorie Louise, daughter of Joseph Kennard Butler and Louise Butler of Rugby.

Dennis Gabor Quotes

Poetry is plucking at the heartstrings, and making music with them.
Dennis Gabor

The most important and urgent problems of the technology of today are no longer the satisfactions of the primary needs or of archetypal wishes, but the reparation of the evils and damages by the technology of yesterday.
Dennis Gabor

Till now man has been up against Nature; from now on he will be up against his own nature.

Internet giant Google marked the 30th birthday of Pac-Man by featuring the classic arcade videogame in the first-ever playable doodle on its home page. The game designed by Toru Iwatani was first released by Japan-based Namco into arcades on May 22, 1980.

Snapshot of the google.com.au home page with the playable pac man game

Web users who opened Google’s homepage including australia google.com.au after 1500 GMT Friday — which is midnight in Japan, where Pac-Man was born — were greeted by a small-scale Pac-man game set around a barely discernible "Google" in the middle of the game’s colorful maze. No suprise  it is with small things like these  that Google manages to keep its  Goog pr in good stead with the general public

Blogging and making money tools – Browsersize

May 11, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

The Google labs  guys  are a busy team  and they are forever coming out with some innovative  tools and ideas  that are quite useful to us  internet geeks ( so to speak)  or bloggers. This tool can also help you bloggers make more money.

Their latest tool “browsersize” can be definetly be put to good use by bloggers. It is a very handy tool to increase your google adsense money or affiliate sales  by making using of its innovative features. Browsersize can be used to make money blogging.

Soon as you enter  your  blog or website url at Browsersize googlelabs , you get an instant picture of  your  blog  with the website showing a layer on top of your blog  showing which parts of the website  or blog are most visible  to the viewers. This can come of particular use  when designing your new website or blog.

How browsersize can make you money blogging ?

You can use this tool to see which parts of your blog is most visible to your viewers and  place your google adsense ads  or affiliate advertisements  in these areas  to maximize you earnings.

browsersize making money blogging

Check out the  example picture of my blog Sheldon Singh  above

For example, the "90%" contour means that 90% of people visiting Google have their browser window open to at least this size or larger. On the example picture above you  can see when you first visit this site, there is a  Ipad picture  in the  70 % to 80 % zone , meaning that 20% to  30% of users cannot see this  area when  they first visit the page.  Thsi percentage is a significant  number which can relate to significant  reduced earnings.

The sizes represented in this snapshot are client area sizes, not browser window sizes. They represent the size of the browser without the title bar, toolbars, status bars, etc., and thus give a true representation of how much content can be seen by a particular segment of the Web-using population

Good luck making some money and if you really wanted to see or check  your browsersize  i suggest you go here – >> Browsersize
