Google is launching a  new  call phone service from gmail , what it  essentially does is , you canCall anywhere in the US and Canada for free and get low rates for other countries with this small plugin  from google — right from within Gmail.

This will definitely change the game for many  telephone and  VOIP  phone call providers who are charging premiums for this sort of  free service that google is now giving.

by 1 Comment

Yes its here ,but at what price ?? iiNet and iPrimus are the first australian ISP’S to  launch 1TB plans forhigh speed  internet connections

IINET PLAN : The plans offer 500GB peak and 500GB off-peak for customers who bundle their home phone with iiNet. ADSL1 customers can get the 1TB deal for $119 per month and ADSL2+ customers for $99 per month.

Shaping is at 2

IiNet

56/256Kbps

Plans are only available to iiNet  australian customers connected to an iiNet DSLAM ( Check with  Whirlpool’s Broadband Choice to see which ISPs have DSLAMs in your local telephone exchange)

Do make sure to read the  fine print. its one step forward with one step backward. It’s worth taking note that iiNet’s 1TB plan counts your upload and downloads, a catch that many ISPs only apply to their Naked DSL plans.

iPrimus announced a 1.1TB plan ($99 per month, or $119 per month for Naked DSL customers). That’s 511GB peak and 600GB off-peak – throttled to 256Kbps if you use your quota.Check if you are eligible  to get this plan in your area

The isp terrabyte wars are only going to get hotter  as we go forward and also the NBN Rolling out eventually while the customers are certainly going to be a happier lott.

The indian $35 tablet leaves IPAD soul- less

by Leave a Comment

"One Laptop Per Child wants to join forces to help manufacture and distribute  the Indian government’s planned US$35 tablet. In a congratulatory note to the government, OLPC Chairman Nicholas Negroponte said the world needs the $35 tablet, and he offered the country full access to OLPC hardware and software technology."

The nonprofit organization “One Laptop Per Child” wants to join forces to help develop the Indian government’s planned US$35 tablet.

OLPC Chairman Nicholas Negroponte said the world needs the $35 tablet, and he offered the country full access to OLPC hardware and software technology.

"India is so big that you risk being satisfied with your internal market. Don’t. The world needs your device and leadership. Your tablet is not an "answer" or "competitor" to OLPC’s XO laptop," Negroponte wrote.

Negroponte advised the Indian government to make the tablet as desirable as Apple’s iPad, but not to design it as a media consumption tool. The device should be an education tool.

So what is OLPC ?

One Laptop per Child is not about a machine, it’s about a movement; and we’d love you to be a part of it. The first and most important way you can join in is to donate one or more laptops at amazon.com/xo. But there’s lots of other ways to participate; you can host your own fundraising drive, help at a nearby pilot, or simply tell your friends about the project and help spread the word.

Mission Statement:

To create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. When children have access to this type of tool they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.

tixati bit torrent, not napster but bloody Good

by Leave a Comment

Seems like this is 2010’s #1 bit torrent client maybe ?.

U-Torrent came to be in 3rd rank while Vuze is 2nd. Has anyone been using this? Seems pretty good but I am used to U-Torrent so will be trying this in my own time. I even have Vuze installed but rarely use it.

Tixati  – catch it at  http://www.tixati.com/

Tixati is a slick new torrent program authored by the architect of the WinMiX OpenNap program. Definitely a sophisticated and forward-thinking client, Tixati is already embracing the shift towards trackerless torrent swarming: magnet links, PEX, and DHT swarming works very well in Tixati. The throttling features and wide range of priority adjustments will make any fussy P2P user quite happy, and you’ll find that download speeds are at least as fast as Vuze and uTorrent. The bitfield graphs and ‘executive dashboard’ display is very professional, and this product easily earns itself a spot amongst the best torrent clients today. Definitely try Tixati for torrent P2P needs.

The  program truly reminds me of "napster days" . if  You used napster when it had come out you surely will love this torrent client as well . This version may also please the geeks as it gives a lot of information on the torrents and tweaking to be done.

Download Tixati v1.37
Tixati contains NO SPYWARE, NO ADS, and NO GIMMICKS.  When you download Tixati from Tixati.com, you’re getting only the Tixati software and no extra garbage.
