This Guy bought Million dollar Google.com for just $12 dollars

October 3, 2015 by admin Leave a Comment

domains for cheap what - and not even godaddy but Google domain registration service

Domain Names Sell for as low as 0.99 cents to $35.6 million just for internet domain name. Google.com which is probably worth millions of dollars got accidentally sold to a buyer last week for a very small fee this week, possibly leaving many google employees redfaced. In fact insurance .com did sell for $35.6million (yep just for the name www.insurance.com) in 2010.

How did google lose google.com domain name for just $12

In one of the weirdest stories I’ve ever read online a guy called Sanmay Ved has detailed how he was able to use Google’s own domain service to buy Google.com for just $12.

the google.com accidental sale for $12 and purchase

Apparently Sanmay was playing around in Google Domains just to see if there was any interesting domains he could buy. He searched google.com and was surprised that it was available. He could not believe his luck and instantly just purchased the domain without thinking about it. He then decided to add it to his cart and check out and realised all he needed to pay was just the small amount of $12 to own one of the most popular names on the internet.

While this story is as unbelievable as it is, like hitting a gold mine, the joy didn’t last for long. The domain was for a short time was actually registered to Sanmay Ved, as it showed in his Google Webmaster Tools with his existing domain and he also received a set of emails from Google accounts, the details of which he hasn’t disclosed.

Surprisingly he did say that that he had not received similar emails for previous domain purchases.THE domain at THE price! $.99 .COM Domains from GoDaddy!

What happened next was expected, Google managed to reverse the transaction and sanmay was refunded the $12 he spent for the domain and the domain name went back to google.

It is said that this obviously could be done easily because google domains owns the registration service, however had another big registrar like godaddy.com ( which sells domains names for currently as low as 0.99 cents ) or Bing.com or yahoo.com had laid their hands on such a nice prize it would have been another story altogether.

You can read the whole post that sanmay ved posted on his linked in account over here.

Here are some pics from his Linked in account

A suit that pays the bills

April 30, 2014 by admin 1 Comment

Now that would be convenient wouldn’t it? Coming quite close is The Heritage Power Suit, a smart suit that lets you (sorry!) pay your bills with a wave of your hand, quite literally. Quite a genius idea if you ask me, move over 007 Invention Centre.

the suit with a chip to make payments the powersuit

Get in the the chance to win a Powersuit

The “Heritage Bank Australia’s new smart suit” which is currently being trialed in small numbers will have a tiny chip hand-threaded into the sleeve of your bespoke suit, allowing you to pay with a contact-less swipe of your sleeve. The chip simply is a bank card on the sleeve of your suit and is simple to use – just wave and go, smart.

Like paywave cards, the smart suit has a pay limit of $100 as a safety measure, but that’s quite enough to get me through most of my day-to-day purchases, unless it’s a day that I decide to buy a Television set.

Down to the dirty – the suit can be dry cleaned while the chip is in it and will work perfectly well even after the clean.

There it is then, wearing your credit on your sleeve.

Now back to a suit that really pays your bills without you having to pay – it can’t be that difficult, anybody out there up for a challenge? Meanwhile, I’ll just have to settle for The Heritage Power Suit.

More on The Heritage Power Suit and a video including the making of it here. Onsite you’ll also find information on a charity auction to win a smart suit, so go on and give it a go, you just might be the next cool person in the real smart suit.

Tablets fighting back against smartphones

November 9, 2013 by admin Leave a Comment

tablets or smartphonesAt one point in time, there seemed to be a clear distinction between smartphones and tablets: the former was your go-to device for calling, texting, and checking email, while the latter was used for recreational purposes like gaming and video steaming. However, as more tablets begin to offer calling capabilities, the line between the two devices has become somewhat blurred. Let’s take a look at what improved calling capabilities mean for the future of tablets:

Could a Tablet Replace Your Primary Phone?

Whereas users once had to download apps like Skype and Viber to make VoIP and video calls on their tablets, the next generation of tablets is equipped with all the features you need to turn it into your primary phone. The new Nexus tablet comes with the option of 4G LTE connectivity, as does the new Samsung Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note devices. The new ASUS Fonepad incorporates full 3G-phone functionality so that users have fast, reliable coverage whenever they want to make a call.

For those who think that a tablet is too large to make phone calls with comfortably, consider this: you don’t have to hold the tablet up to your ear to make a call. Instead, you can take advantage of in-line mic headphones or a Bluetooth headset, thereby eliminating concern over the awkward sizing of tablet devices.

Phone, Tablet, or Phablet?

samsung galaxy note 2 flip case vs diary case

In reality, tablets aren’t that much larger than top-of-the-line smartphones. After all, the latest trend in smartphones is to make larger displays that are better for browsing, viewing, and gaming. You need look no further than the HTC One or the Samsung Galaxy S4 handsets for examples of this point. The HTC One measures a whopping 137.4mm (5.41”), while the Samsung Galaxy S4 measures 136.7mm (5.38”). Needless to say, it’s a struggle for the average person to fit either one of these devices in the palm of their hand.

By contrast, tablets are more compact than ever. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes in a 151.2mm (5.9”) model, while the Asus FonePad is offered in a slightly larger size—152.4mm (6”). The Samsung Galaxy Tab, Nexus 7, and Asus FonePad all come in 177.8mm (7”) models as well. In fact, the differences between smartphones and tablets are so indistinguishable these days that some of these smaller tablets with phone capabilities are actually being referred to as phone tablets, or “phablets.”

Smartphones and Tablets Go Head to Head

Whether you decide to invest in one of the new phone tablets or stick with a more traditional mobile device like the BlackBerry Z10 or iPhone 5s, one thing is clear: by offering more functionality, tablets are fighting back against smartphones for control of the global market share. But tablet makers have a lot of catching up to do. According to statistics from Tech Crunch, smartphones accounted for 60.1% of the global market share in 2012, while tablets accounted for just 10.7%. It is worth noting that while tablets control only a small portion of the market, sales of these devices grew 78.4% year-on-year in 2012, and are forecasted to grow a whopping 109.9% through 2017, surpassing both desktop and portable PCs in market share. Test out the next generation of tablets to see what everyone is talking about.
